Wax Ribbon: Wax ribbons are typically used for short-term applications where the image does not need to withstand repeated scratching, contact with chemicals or high temperatures. Wax ribbons can be printed on a wide variety of label stocks, but the most common and economical match is coated paper. Wax ribbons work well on coated and uncoated paper stocks and print at higher speeds and lower temperatures than wax/resin or resin ribbons.
